Stole an identity?!

Identity theft can enter into many areas of our lives. It involves any instance where a person uses someone else's identification documents or other identifiers in order to impersonate that person for whatever reason.
But what about Identity theft on the Internet?
The theft of one's identity can be done by stealing your mail, getting receipts from stores, or even by gaining access to information you have on your computer or on web sites you access to buy goods. The Internet is becoming an ever popular way for thieves to gain information to conduct identity theft. Users have to not deliver their credit card numbers or their birth date as it can be stolen, they have to be very careful when they buy something on the web, like with e-bay web site.
Hackers can use virus to capture such activity as user names, passwords, and credit card information. Web site can help us against like "purge it".
Personnaly I check the security of a site is to read the privacy policy provided by a site . The information I enter on the Web site should be kept confidential. I read the company's privacy policy to ensure that my personal information won't be sold to others. Web sites like BNP bank seems to be very good, but last year hackers find how they can stole identity... we have to pay attention to all web sites!!
