Who I am on the web? - My space / Viadeo/ E-buzz/ Management wiki

I studied communication and literature in great universities, first of all on the beautiful town : Montpellier

Then at Paris, at the big university, in Assas street

Finally I became a student of the Celsa ! And I met Sir Spaulding wahouh!!!

Also I learn a lot of think in my job experiences, for example i worked at :

In the multimedia service! It was a great experience!

I also can talk about The Museum of natural history at Paris : I worked on the press service, what a good job! I really enjoy it!

What's an e-portfolio? Why have we had some? How can we use it?

An e-portfolio can be used to show who we are, and what we want to do. It's all the works we have done on class or alone CV.
For my part, I have done a lot of thinks this year on the Internet : I join Myspace communauty, I can meet a lot of people and discover music, I also register to Viadeo to meet persons for my career. I have done this english blog "save my souk" a wiki with other people, and another wiki for another class : "Management des organisations " . This year we talked about e-culture, e-communication and how we used all this tools to promote a mark, a company or an idea.

What I have done on Celsa, what the most intersting thing I have done this year?

In english we explored a lot of intersting questions, like what is RSS feeds or what is web neutrality in our world right now, or the problem of security and identity on the web...

In my opinion the most intersting project was our work on music and e-communication, we had to think about a new web sites, web radio which gives the best of music, to buils a new service for people who wants to discover new songs...Witn Lucie, Helene, Henri and Aurélie we have done a really good work ! We think about a name and a base line: MoodZy, Let the music play ! We explain how can we promote this new tool, with partenerships, like Orange or Air France, or new artists like Slone , with emailing and with a video which will present Moodzy and will be posted on Youtube! This work was very intersting, we finished it last friday, we all have done our presentation behind our professors : it was frightening!

In english I loved the fact that we have to search pictures, links and videos to talk about the subjects, It is the future of e-communication! The subjects I do like are web neutrality and e-news (what's up on e-communication?) and also how to explain tool like DRM in english...

Today my favorite websites are : Myspace (to discover new musics and new artists), the works of the graphic school les gobelins as I love photos and graphism and a my favoirite tool is Google earth : I can see my house on La Marsa, Tunisia ...and travel all around the world trough my computer!

What are my predictions for the most important development in e-culture 2007 ?

When we think about all this subjects, we have to reflect to the future of the web : what will be the next big thing ?

In my opinion it will be impossible to circumvent the VIDEOS! In all web sites, for all ideas (politic, marketing, culture...) we will use images. It's one of the evolution of the web, to communicate with images!

One of my "predictions" for the development in e-culture is about legislation : hackers, music majors and all net surfers will have to abide by the laws. Countries will write laws together ...and hackers will search new solutions. One of them will be make their business in a country without web laws, like Sealand, a funny artificial island.

The Principality of Sealand is a man-made off-shore installation named HM Fort Roughs, a former Maunsell Sea Fort located in the North Sea 10 kilometres (six miles) off the coast of Suffolk, England, as well as territorial waters in a twelve-nautical-mile radius.
Since 1967, the installation has been occupied by the associates and family members of Paddy Roy Bates, a former radio broadcaster and former British Army Major, who claims it is a sovereign and independent state.
Today HM Fort Roughs wants to sell this island and "web pirates" like "piratebay" (to download free musics, games, movies...)) , a swedish web sites want to buy Sealand to do what they want on the web without any laws.

I think on the future, web legislation will be the most important subject : there will be many intersting debates!!

Today in class, we talk about what we have learn during this week and what subjects are interessting us.
For my part, I learn what is RSS, DRM and how we use blogger, how we post a video etc... Two thinks interset me : doing a wiki and work all together, learning from each other, also i do like subjects which talk about cybercrime and identity theft.
What I would like to learn more about ?
I would like to talk more about web netrality, and international "e-politics" we can also discuss with each other about politics! The example of China is very interesting!

Interviews in class?

English class...

When I talk with Sir bob about my ideas about our english class, he likes the fact that we can use videos to learn. I think it can be a very good tool, as we learn from each other (even learning from our mistakes) and listen to our opinions. We can do false or true intreview that's mean we can ask each other about e-communication, hobbies... and we also can do false interviews, and take another identity! Like the movie BORAT! For example I can be a journalist from the BBC who interview a prolife activist or a militant against GMO , It can be very interesting!
We can easily record them during class, we use to talk with the teacher without disturbing the work in progress... In my opinion we can publish them in Daily motion or Youtube, because it's very easy to use them and as all the class, I think, know this web sites, we can publish them in our blog.

How can we post this videos?

In Youtube, we can create a group, and share our videos, but I don't think that web users can't watch them, and it will be very complicated to watch and download them.

There is others web sites, where we can publish our videos and share them with a private group like eSnips. But the problem is that in each group a student have to create a count in one of this web sites, and then, invite all the students by email... I don't know what is the better solution, so all the comments are welcome!

Learn from our mistakes

This year our english course is very particular as we discuss with our teatcher with MSN, and we talk about e-communication in our blog. We can find answers on the Intrenet!
There is many ways to learn english ( watch the video “Japanese learning english”:) and even if I tried a lot of them, I never do really progress, except when the teacher trust in me and when I talk about something I do like ...

To make this course interesting we have to talk about Intrenet and web sites, of course, but maybe with different techniques like video ( netvibes is a very good idea!). We can do groups with different level, the teacher will do specific course and we will learn from our mistakes ... I would like to know how we can write administrative letters and others thinks more professional ....

Finally I think that the most important think is Sir Bob! If he uses the six following qualities : generosity, discipline, patience, perseverance, insight and comprehension, with all of us, I am sure, we will do more progress!

If you have a personal website, you can use these feeds to add it to your pages. Look for the orange logo on the web or the Live Bookmark icon in your browser's status bar.
It's very easy tu use RSS system you can have new content automatically as it allows users to subscribe to their favorite websites! So when you search somthing you will find it easily!You will love your comptuer...

E-fraud

Cybercrime is when crimes use web tools. There is a lot of example of cybercrime. First, I thought that it is only about big crime, like rap or murder! But it can be just criminal copyright crime or spamming or even telecom fraud… American government fight every second against cybercrime, we can find web sites that can help us!

In my opinion the most important example and also the most horrible it’s the child pornography!
It’s very difficult to fight against this cybercrime, and a lot of organization tries to fight against this, like the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) .
It is the worst example.

There is a lot of strange example, like when African people send you a mail, needing to transfer large sums of money out of the country. I don’t understand how they found my old mail, but I received few kind of this mail. Obviously I never answered them!

Youtube is a popular free video sharing that’s mean that every person which has a camera can send a video…also we can download them, and use them! It was founded in February 2005 by three engineers.

A few weeks ago Google, one of the most important web site on the world buys Youtube, that’s show how the importance of this web site. Hence, I think it is very successful as we can watch video from the entire world, without any access problem.

I explain in “E-news!!” that media like CNN wants to have this personal video and that’s why they create I reports. When they create this tool, they remind the fact that the used Youtube videos about the Lebanon war in the last summer. In this war, a lot of journalists can’t have any videos so they ask Lebanese persons to share their pictures… It will be an important tool for media!!

I use it like a media, once a week, that’s mean that I check information that don’t exist in traditional or French media, and if it is very interesting, I send the link to a few person.

Identity theft can enter into many areas of our lives. It involves any instance where a person uses someone else's identification documents or other identifiers in order to impersonate that person for whatever reason.
But what about Identity theft on the Internet?
The theft of one's identity can be done by stealing your mail, getting receipts from stores, or even by gaining access to information you have on your computer or on web sites you access to buy goods.The Internet is becoming an ever popular way for thieves to gain information to conduct identity theft. Users have to not deliver their credit card numbers or their birth date as it can be stolen, they have to be very careful when they buy something on the web, like with e-bay web site.
Hackers can use virus to capture such activity as user names, passwords, and credit card information. Web site can help us against like "purge it".
Personnaly I check the security of a site is to read the privacy policy provided by a site . The information I enter on the Web site should be kept confidential. I read the company's privacy policy to ensure that my personal information won't be sold to others. Web sites like BNP bank seems to be very good, but last year hackers find how they can stole identity... we have to pay attention to all web sites!!

I have to learn english!!

I tried many ways on the Internet to learn English vocabulary, translation tools, talking with people, English newspaper on line…
I want to explain them, and show that you have to be very disciplined and patient to learn with Internet stuffs!! We can talk with English people with MSN it’s a very good tool, but it’s very difficult to find someone who has the same hobbies, and wants to talk with you even if your English is very bad! Also we can try to learn with social networks or english forum and discuss with people all around the world.

Translation web sites(like voila) can help us to understand a word or to translate a sentence, but it’s a an electronic stuff so you can’t learn expressions and we will always have French reflect!Therefore I think it's not a very good way to learn english.

Finally I tried another way to learn English, which I think is the best way: reading newspaper on the Internet : like The Guardian or Time magazine. I think it’s very good, as we can learn new words and read UK or US news, and know how they talk about Iraq wars or French politic, it’s very interesting!

Internet qualities

Internet is a collection of interconnected computer networks a wonderful tool, to meet other people, to learn, to create... To progress in our lifes we need six big qualities, where and how the web develop them?
Generosity
With the Internet we can share our culture, what we have seen, our experiences and that show us how generous Internet and web users can be! Wikis are a very good example for that! With wikipedia everybody can define a word or an expression with links and good examples.
Discipline
We can find an example of discipline when you buy something in the Internet, e-bay can be a good example for discipline in web as we can deal with a lot of people and buy stuffs without any problems. A lot of web site companies, like SNCF are very disciplined, they help us to buy travels, without this quality they can loose a lot of consumers.
Patience
Internet and e-communication change all the time, but we can always learn what’s up; there is a lot of web site which help us to do well. I think it’s a good example of patience! Blogger is an example because everybody can create a blog, and we can always find solutions for our problem.
Perseverance
When you use for the first time e-communication, you can get mad because all the concept and the words are new. But we can always find a “toolkit” or an explanation to use it. More you use Internet more you learn about it ! For example when you have a problem with you email, you can find a tool which help you, like with voila mail.
Insight
Internet is wonderful for creation! We can use all the Internet tools to create songs, videos…In my opinion web sites like Youtube or Dailymotion shows us how we can send our creation and it help us to use our creativity, and to know people reactions so Internet develop our ability to reflect on what we are learning.
Comprehension
Sometimes we don’t understand an administration paper, Internet can help us to find a solution. In France students can ask CAF or Crous with the Internet to have money to study. Another example can show us that comprehension can be apply especially to the world of electronic culture : google tools. We can learn more about what are in the Internet (and we have links, images, news…)

What will be essential on the web? What are the new tools ?what can i say about e-communication and internet evolution?

It is very difficult to think about web developpement as we always discover new tools, new web sites... but unconsciously we notice what are the most important changes on the web. I think we can classify them :

First, users create a lot of thinks, they use social networks, they send videos... The outcome is likely to shape the future of e-busness (and e-communication), our technological need, media strategy, web language...

Hence, a few years ago medias notice that social networks and web communities can be an interesting stake, they became to think about what they can do with Internet. A few months ago a lot of radio or TV ask internet users to participate on media report, like CNN exchange and the Ireports, which was created only three months ago. Utilisation of Internet by medias will become more and more important. Another example shows that collaboration : Rupert Murdoch, a businessman and media magnate buy the social network My space last year.

Then we can talk about high flow which are necessary to create and download videos, songs...We will need a better telecommunication system!I think that Fiber to the Premises (FTTP) or Fiber to the Home (FTTH) can be a good solution, and help us to develop exchanges and creation. FTTP is a broadband telecommunications system based on fiber optic cables and delivery of multiple advanced services to the home or business.

Finally I will talk about "e-language", even if we use words like blog, flash drive(storage device connected to computer), podcast for a long time, many of this "new" word were in the latest edition of the Chambers Dictionnary. It reflects that we are in hi-tech age !

Why don't we talk about the web 2.0? Because I think that tools which help collaborate and share information online, like wikis it is a development of the web but i do not think that we are not in a "second-generation of Internet- based services", Internet will always change so I think web 2.0 is a marketing concept !

My point of view on social networks

A social network is a social structure, where people meet each other to become friends or to work together. On the Internet there is a lot of social network like myspace where you find personal profiles, blogs, groups... It can be very useful for a musician, an actor who work on their profile and to make know themselves. So it can be an important structure for artists, and also to search a job. I use MSN, i think it's a social network as we can meet friends of our friends! In my opinion, in the future, social network on the Internet will be one of the most important communication tools for a company.

The expression "web neutrality" describes networks that don't favor some destinations or classes of application. The problem is that with Internet you can't know or identify who write text or create a blog, under a nickname it can be a society or a political group! But you can compare and understand when you are. Web neutrality is related to the web server, if it isn't neutral it became serious. For example when you search something you can have only commercial link, it can be dangerous for our freedom : based on what site pays them the most they can decide which Web sites work best for you.
I think it's an important concept, we have to protect our rights, that's why I put "we own the Internet" video.
When I want to explain what is web neutrality I think about countries where there is not web neutrality like China. As I tell it at the beginning, democratic Internet can be in danger if governements or companies will control it, it is a big debate in the United states as the congress in the are discussing a law that would abandon the Internet's First Amendment. That's mean that based on what site pays them the most the companies can deliver Internet service !That would be a financial windfall for Internet service providers, but a disaster for users! that's why a lot of american users (and even artists like MOBY) join "the fight of internet freedom" : save the Internet.
This web sites show that web neutrality is an important concept because : the companies that deliver Internet service changed the rules so that Web sites that pay them money would be easily accessible, while little-guy sites would be harder to access, and slower to navigate. Providers could also block access to sites they do not like.

DRM : my opinion

DRM or Digital Rights Management it's a technology which give content providers control over redistribution and acceses to material. It used by publishers ( or copyright owners) to control access to material. I think that it's necessary for copyright holders to prevent unauthorized duplication. It can affect pirate media but finally they always find a solution.
While digital rights management is most commonly used by the entertainment industry (films and recording), it has found use in other media as well. Many online music stores, such as Apple’s i Tunes Store , as well as certain e-books producers, have adopted various DRM schemes in recent times
DRM has been used by organizations such as the British Library in its secure electronic delivery service to permit worldwide access to substantial numbers of rare (and in many cases unique).

The Podcast revolution

Podcasting is the contraction of "broadcasting" and "ipod", it's a method of distributing multimedia files, such as audio or video programs. I think that podcast is not a program or a site, you need to have contents to diffuse it. That's why medias use this method to promote theirs programs, like radiofrance or the BBC.
Podcast is very useful as everybody can download a music or a video and listen to them with a mp3 reader or our computer without advertising and from a lot of country. For example you can listen the amercian Museum of Natural History lectures, it is very interesting!
Even if ipod is a mark i don't think that the word belongs to a company, it was used by media first and then everybody beacame to use it!
